That time we had a puppy

So... I like animals. Especially baby animals. And fixity. And I used to hide just how much I liked 'em, especially my old cat. Because cat-lovers are not cool. But I don't even care anymore. I love that stupid, fuzzy old thing. Recently I got into dogs. Weird. But no one can say no to puppies. I blame Florie. She always has a supply of English Cream puppies at her house. They got us hooked. Then Austin and I decided we HAD to have a puppy.

I would waver back in forth in my head... puppy would be so fun and a family dog would be sweet. But they're so much work. And I knew I wanted to start our family soon. That just seemed like too much. But then I got on KSL on found Jack...

Just look at him!

He is an Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix. And when we met him, we fell in love. He was just the fuzziest puppy/bear. We just couldn't wait to get into a house so we could keep him! We FINALLY closed on our house (more on house later) and two days later picked up Jack. He fell for me hard. It was so cute. Wouldn't let me out of his sight. I'm not gonna lie, I sort of loved it. He picked me over anyone else. Tee hee. My family fell for him too.

Then life with a puppy started to get real tricky. I couldn't get anything done because that pup was so dang needy (and please don't anyone dare compare puppies to babies. "You need to get a puppy first before you think you can handle a newborn." Oh, please. Don't even get me started on that ridiculous rant). Once I was back at school and we were both working full-time, poor pup was stuck at home penned up for far too long. That meant that even after running him around at the park after work, he still had lots of energy to eat everything in the house. We just didn't have the time to train him or be with him during the day. Needless to say, we both decided he would be better off with a family who could make him happier. We found a family with lots of little kids and an old family dog that wanted him. Jack is so friendly, he loved them immediately. Bye dog Jack. Nice knowin' ya. I might have shed a small tear. Oh well.

Not gonna lie, while he was cute, I am SO glad we don't have a dog. What was I thinking? Phew, that was close. Yeah, I like animals. But I mostly like to visit them lots at their own home. Except I could totally have a kitten. That will never happen though. Not while Austin is breathing.
