I've been wanting to keep track of all the words Amelia has been learning. This chick astounds me with how much she learns and absorbs. Natalie told me how someone in her family taught her niece to chant her name and punch her fists in the air. I thought that was hilarious and cute. Well we have been trying to teach Amelia to say her name "Millie" since it's easier. She just hasn't even cared to try until today when we all started chanting "Millie" complete with fist pumps. She looooved that and will now chant "Mimi" with the biggest grin. I kind of love that she calls herself Mimi. So cute. It's definitely all about her.
Today while I was holding Millie by the fridge, she saw the ultrasound of new baby and said "baby!" Not sure where she got that, but shoot, she's smart.
We just got back from a camping trip up at Kolob. We loved it, and Amelia was in heaven. That girl loves the outdoors so much. She stands at the front door window and whispers "side" many times a day yearning for someone to go out with her. And boy does that girl pick up on when anyone is going bye-bye. Anyway, back to Kolob. My dirt-loving little ragamuffin loved it all. Except for all of us keeping her from going into the lake. We have a little paddle boat and she had a love/hate relationship with it. Loved the idea. Hated that she couldn't dive right in the water. At the end of our camping trip, I got so sick of chasing her away from the water that I just let her go in, fully clothed. She raced in so fast that she tripped of course and went face first into deeper water. I knew it was coming and fished her out by her pants so fast. She was not a fan. Still not sure if she was mad because she fell or mad because I pulled her out and ruined everything. Good trip. Not so much fun during nap times and sleep times though.
Before I get too carried away on a crazy- long update, I want to just list some of Millie's milestones/habits.
She is two months shy of the golden 18-month age which means NURSERY!!! Oh boy we can't wait. Church is misery.
Millie loves to go to bed as long as she has Pink Bear. She is pretty good at going down for naps too unless I try too early. She sleeps through the night but likes to wake up early and nap terribly (just meaning super short naps).
She loves, loves, loves her books (YAY!!) we have a bookshelf just for her next to her very own mini couch. She loves to go pick out a few (all) the books and crash on the couch for some good reading time. Granted, her attention span still isn't great (daddy's busy girl), but it's getting better, and her love of books is really helping. That, and playing Connect Four.
She loves animals and can tell you what the doggie says, the cow says, the chicken says (she'll say "bock bock" if you ask her if she wants a chicken nugget), and now, what the kitty says. Here's her list of words sort of in order of how she learned them as of today (it really gets bigger every single day):
Kitty
Dada
Mama
Dog/doggie
Nanna (Janna and Banana)
Bampa (Grandpa)
Gamma (Grandma)
Ball
Belly
Nose
Baby
Amen + while folding her arms
Jesus/Cheese/Shoes (all sound the same)
Baba
Bye bye (she usually shouts this when one of us has to take her out of sacrament meeting...)
Num-a-num means food
Pink Bear (sounds more like pick bah)
Side (outside)
Mimi (Millie) as of today!
That's all I can think of right now. I know there's more. She understands a lot more. I am just smitten with my energetic girl. I am mourning my quickly fading summer. I have loved being her full-time mama for a few short months. Let's not talk about it just yet. I'll cry. She has turned into such a mamas girl, and I'm worried for her transitioning back to a full--time sitter. She freaks out when I go to the bathroom for heavens sake. I can't wait for the someday when I can stay at home with my kiddos. Ok, I'm done. And I must say, I'm proud of myself for this update.
Oh, and she chipped her front tooth. I'm so mad. She chipped it on the gnome. His hat, to be exact. I feel betrayed. And I maybe got rid of that particular gnome.
