My Back Hurts... So I'll Blog

Something nasty happened to me. My back has been in severe pain for the last two days now. It started as a dull ache in my lower back that would only bother me in the mornings. I could "walk it out" and be fine. That happened for about a month. Now the pain is constant. And sharp! How old am I??! I didn't really have an injury either... just been livin' my normal life.

On another nasty note, I have started to like country music. Whaaaaatt?! I don't mean bluegrass. I've always been behind bluegrass. And I don't mean Johnny Cash. Or Roger Miller. They are a given. But I mean... pop country. Songs about boys and buses (literally). Nashville happened. You know, good 'ole T-freakin'-V. Oh, when do I have time to watch said TV with my two jobs plus plasma?? On the iPad when I sit in front of the mirror and do my makeup in the morning. That's when. Don't worry, I'll never be too busy for TV. Back to country. The show, Nashville. It's so good. And the music is amazing. A lot of it is bluegrassy good-ness. But there's also a fair portion of black mascara and heartbreak. And boy do I love it. I neeeeeeeed a pair of red cowgirl boots and a reason to go line dancing. If only my husband didn't hate it. All I want to do is further embrace this new-found country side of me. I guess all the warning signs are there... I'm already a red-kneck, I've always loved townsy gatherings, including a good demolition derby or rodeo. I love fair food. I love denim. And dirty boys. Like need-to-take-a-shower dirty. And harses. Horses? And now Austin made me accidentally want a puppy. And we'll name him Atticus after my car. (side-note: Janna has already nicknamed our first-borne child "Jupy"...don't ask, but her names stick. Ugh.)

So if anyone has a cure for my back pain, or a really good sugar cookie (not a recipe for one, but an actual cookie delivered to my front door. With frosting, please), let me know. As for the country...  no cure necessary. Just watch the show so we can gossip about it.

Also, I don't really have any friends to hang with anymore. So ya'll should move down here and be my friend! I'm jealous of you guys that have all your "couple friends."

Here's some pictures. From February till now.

 Snow day with my man.

If you follow me on pinterest, you know I post lots of OCD pins. Mainly from on blog I read called iheartorganizing. I love heart it. February was dedicated to organizing your office space. I took my piles of crap that were residing in weird places all over the house (see one example of said piles in top right pic) and came up with a new filing system. One that fit into this tiny box. And a station by our front door to dump our mail and other "stuff". In the top pictures, there's a file for Austin, one for me, a shred file, action file, and "to file" file. I find it pretty snazzy. Then I got a little crazy and decided to organize our junk drawer in the kitchen...

Bought a couple of cute lamps and this end table with our tax returns! Our apartment is so cozy now!

Then one day I went to a Weight Watchers training in Vegas. And my husband crashed my hotel room. And as luck would have it, Hayley and Nate happened to be in Vegas that same weekend. Weird. But awesome. Cheesecake Factory, I miss you!
Also the Parade of Homes happened. I wasn't too excited. Mostly because I go every year and see the same south-west style that I don't like. But I take my Interior Design students (maybe coordinating 90 high-schoolers on two buses in mutli-million-dollar homes also had something to do with it...) every year. Boy was I glad I went! This year had a few interiors I loved and one house that was everything I want and more--inside and out! Craftsman architecture... ooooh boy! Gimme.

Some random beauties... bored at plasma, heart-attacked classroom for Valentimes, and my new smock I purchased at Wal-Mart. Classy.

Austin being strong and stuff while competing at the Reebok Crossfit Games. My husband is hot.

Poor fixity had surgery. That top wound is one of three. He was quite sad and sore. And had to be dressed in a small onesie to cover his wounds. Then he upgraded to a nice tank top in grey. In which he looks quite like a stuffed sausage. Love that dumb cat.

We had spring break a bit ago. Austin and I played and played. That top picture is my favorite. Out to lunch at Oscar's in Springdale. Then Austin's diaper bum as he waded in the Virgin river.

Then we had a nice campfire. That's a lie. The fire was mean! It scorched my chest when it spit a big hunk of burning ember that landed down my shirt. Didn't end there. Spit another one out that went under my bum and burned a hole in my pants. But the camping part was fun. Except the part where it's spring and Austin's allergies are out of control. So he sneezed and blew his nose all night (ever heard my husband blow his nose? yeah...), and I listened.

It's official! He's a bus driver!

And then we brined a turkey one Saturday night. It was delicious.

And there was the time that I spent five hours in the kitchen baking two birthday cakes. 33 for Chien-Po, and 60 for Peggy, my mother-in-law. Kendall's was delicious. Peggy's somehow was baked on a fault line and had a little earthquake problem... bummer.

Easter car show. Tradition. Another reason I should have always loved some country to go along with my rock and roll.

So now I think I'll go learn a country song. Any requests?

  1. Seriously, I wish we lived closer so we could do couple things! That would make me so happy! And I loved this post! You guys have been up to lots of fun things. I've been too lazy lately to post about our outings. You look gorgeous as ever! And you and Austin are the cutest. I made delicious sugar cookies the other day. If you lived closer, I would have shared so you could save me from some of those calories that called my name ALLLL DAYYY LOOOONG! Your food looks delicious. YUM! Austin's diaper butt made me laugh so hard....mostly because you called it a diaper butt. You look so pretty pretty with that guitar. Also, welcome to the side of country. I don't listen to it much any more because the husband isn't a fan either (he can handle blue grass stuff or mild stuff but not the hardcore pop stuff really). But there are definitely some goodies. I remember in high school when you HATED that stuff and wanted to kill me when I played it. haha The End.

  2. That's it. We all need to live in the same cul-de-sac and be couple friends forever. There are a lot of awesome things in this blog post, but my favorite by far, is stuffed sausage Fixy. So stuffed!

  3. OHHHHH yeah. And most lower back issues are due to tight glutes and hamstrings. So I'd recommending finding some awesome stretches for down thurr and I'm guessing you'll feel infinitely better. The summer I started Insanity, I seriously twerked my lower back to the point I could hardly waddle and stretching every day cured it.

  7. There's actually no permanent cure to back pain. You have to resort to therapy if it really hurts a lot or have an exercise that includes more stretches. Also, stay away from strenuous activities. Lastly, you have to watch your diet and get enough rest. In doing all of these, you'll lessen the chances of having back pains and its severity.
